Across our existing network of sanctuaries, BritishBees.org has already achieved significant milestones in habitat creation, demonstrating a clear roadmap for the Surrey woodland. To date, we have successfully planted more than 5,000 pollinator-friendly plants, meticulously selecting a variety of wildflowers, native shrubs, and dense hedgerows. These vibrant plantings are not just beautiful; they are already buzzing with life, providing crucial sources of nectar and pollen throughout the year and actively encouraging healthy pollinator populations to establish and return. This success is the foundation of our work.
In the proposed Surrey woodland, we plan to expand upon this proven model with even greater intensity. Our restoration efforts will include introducing expansive meadows of native wildflowers, cultivating hedgerows rich with blossoms and berries, and establishing various types of safe, specialized nesting habitats that allow different species of bees and other insects to thrive. Every new plant we put into the ground represents a critical new food source, a boost to local biodiversity, and a stronger, more resilient future for our struggling pollinators. Your support
